Enterprise Immune System Technology
Cyber security is one of the greatest technical challenges of our day. Nation states, enterprises and individuals are now routinely outpaced by sophisticated attacks, which are successful not only in infiltrating fortified network borders, but also in going unnoticed inside their systems for long periods of time. Security practitioners tasked with keeping networks safe naturally ask the question “In an age of brazen, fastspreading and never-seen-before attacks, how do you defend networks against ‘unknown unknowns’?” The traditional approach to cyber defence rests on the assumption that you can look at yesterday’s attack to define and pre-empt those of tomorrow. The belief is that by truly understanding the nature of the threat we are trying to defend against, we can design security policies, networks, controls, and operational practices to guard against future perils.
Sally Epstein explores the use of advanced machine learning to detect and respond to cyber-threats in real time.
