With the predilection these days to attach the ‘SMART’ label to anything that has a computational capability, possibly with a degree of sensing and/or automation it would be easy to just think I am referring to applying computational intelligence to the process of carrying out a digital investigation. This is not that article; what we are looking at is where everything becoming ‘SMARTter’ provides us with a rich seam of additional information / data that might have some evidential or safety component that may just assist an investigation. Our very own editor looks at SMART Digital Investigations of the future, lifting the lid on the technology being considered for the future SMART City and what evidence might be found.
